Ingredients:
Black Beans-100g
Brinjal/Egg plant/katharikai-5
Shallots-6
Tomato-3
Red chili powder-1 tsp
Coriander powder-1 tsp
Ginger/inji-1 inch
Garlic cloves/poondu-2 cloves
Curry leaves-2 sprig
Coconut chunks-6 (large size)
Tamarind Pulp-1/2 cup
Turmeric Powder a pinch
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Salt as needed
Oil-1 tsp
Vadagam/mustard seeds and urad dhal-1 tsp
Asafoetida/Hing a pinch
Step by step photo recipe:
2.clean the black beans and add in water and pressure cook till it gets cooked.
3.Once cooked drain the water.
3.Now add shallots/Onion,Egg plant/Brinjal and Curry leaves.
4.Further add Tomato and 1 tsp Chili Powder.
5.Add 2 tsp of Coriander Powder.
6.Add the Coconut Paste and Tamarind Pulp.
7.Mix and Cook for 2 Whistles.
8.Temper with 1 tsp of oil and Vadam/mustard and urad dal and add to gravy and garnish with Coriander leaves.
9.Now the Gravy is ready to serve.
Notes:
- Salt and Chili Powder can be used as per the taste.
- serve with hot rice.

- For Tempering

Directions
- Add 6 Coconut Chunks,1 inch Ginger/Inji and 2 Garlic Cloves in a Mixer and make into paste.Keep aside.
- clean the black beans and add in water and pressure cook till it gets cooked.
- Once cooked drain the water.
- Now add shallots/Onion,Egg plant/Brinjal and Curry leaves.
- Further add Tomato and 1 tsp Chili Powder.
- Add 2 tsp of Coriander Powder.
- Add the Coconut Paste and Tamarind Pulp.
- Mix and Cook for 2 Whistles.
- Temper with 1 tsp of oil and Vadam/mustard and urad dal and add to gravy and garnish with Coriander leaves.
- Now the Gravy is ready to serve.
