Bottle Gourd Poriyal is a side dish recipe made with Onion,Tomato,Curry leaves,Coriander leaves and Bottle gourd with some spices.Bottle gourd Poriyal goes well with Sambar Rice,Rasam Rice and Curd rice.

Ingredients

Bottle gourd/Surakkai-1 medium sized chopped

Onion-1 Medium sized Chopped

Tomato-1 Medium Sized Chopped

Curry Leaves-1 Spring Chopped

Coriander Leaves-1 tsp Chopped

Coconut(Shredded)-2 tsp

Chili Powder-1 tsp

Turmeric Powder-1/2 tsp

Oil-2 tsp

Mustard Seeds,Urad dal and Chana dal-1 tsp

Step by Step Photo Recipe

1.Peel of the skin of Bottle Gourd/Surakkai.

2.Chop the Bottle gourd into Pieces.

3.Wash and Cook in a Steamer till it gets soft.

4.In a kadai add Oil.

5.Add Mustard seeds,Urad dal and Chana dal.

6.Allow it to Splutter.

7.Then add Onions.

8.Add Tomatoes.

9.Add Curry Leaves and Coriander Leaves.

10.Add Salt.

11.Cook till it becomes soft and Mushy.

12.Now add Cooked Bottle Gourd.

13.Then Add Chili Powder.

14.Further add Turmeric Powder and Cook till raw smell goes off.

15.Finally add Shredded Coconut and Mix.

16.Switch off in a minute.

Notes

  • You can also crush and add Peanuts finally.This tastes better.
