Green Gram dal/Moong dal/Pachai payaru kuzhambu Recipe with step by step photos.Green gram dal is made by cooking green gram in pressure cooker and sautéing with onion,tomato,red chilies,curry leaves and coriander leaves.This green gram goes well with white rice or roti.
Green gram is one of the most healthiest dal.It is rich in protein.Moong dal comes in two varieties,green gram and yellow gram.
Green gram is prepared by soaking them for atleast 3 to 4 hours,if you are preparing like a sundal recipe.For making this recipe,you can instantly use Moong dal without soaking.This is the one bean whose soaking time is less when compared with other.
Moon dal sambar is prepared by sauting moong dal,till aroma comes.Transfer the moong dal to a blender and blend coarsely.wash thoroughly.In a kadai add oil.Once it is hot add vadagam or mustard seeds,urad dal and chana dal.then add onions/shallots,tomato,red chilies,curry leaves and coriander leaves.Once cooked add cooked moong dal and boil for 5 mins.

Green Gram/Pachaipayaru-1/2 Cup
Shallots-6 to 7
Tomato-1 Small Size Chopped
Garlic Cloves-4 Crushed
Curry Leaves-1 sprig
Coriander Leaves-2 tsp
Red Chili-3
Turmeric Powder-1 Pinch
Oil-1 tsp
Vadagam/Mustard Seeds and Urad dal-1/2 tsp
Salt as needed
Step by Step Photo Recipes:
1.In a Pressure Cooker add green gram and saute till aroma arises.
2.Transfer the green gram to a blender and blend Coarsely.
3.Wash and add green gram and a pinch of Turmeric powder in a pressure Cooker and cook for 4 whistles with 2 Cups Water.
6.Once it splutters add Shallots,Tomato,Garlic Cloves,Curry Leaves,Coriander Leaves and Red Chili and Saute till it becomes Soft.
8.Add needed Salt and boil for 5 Mins.
Serve with Hot Rice.

Directions
- In a Pressure Cooker add green gram and saute till aroma arises.
- Transfer the green gram to a blender and blend Coarsely.
- Wash and add green gram and a pinch of Turmeric powder in a pressure Cooker and cook for 4 whistles with 2 Cups Water.
- Mean while in a kadai add 1 tsp Oil.
- Add vadagam or Mustard seeds and Urad dal.
- Once it splutters add Shallots,Tomato,Garlic Cloves,Curry Leaves,Coriander Leaves and Red Chili and Saute till it becomes Soft.
- Once the green gram is Cooked mash it with Masher/Mathu and transfer it to Kadai.
- Add needed Salt and boil for 5 Mins.
