Mulai Keerai Kootu/Keerai Kuzhambu/Spinach Dal Curry/Greens with Lentils

 
 

Ingredients:

 
Mulai Keerai -4 Cups Chopped(1 bunch)
Toor Dal-1/4 Cup
Shallots-8 
Tomato-1 Medium Sized
Red Chilies-2
Turmeric Powder-1/4 tsp
Garlic-5 
Salt as needed.
 
For tempering:
 
Oil-2 tsp
Vadagam-1 tsp
or
Mustard Seeds and Urad dal-1 tsp
Red Chilies-2
 

Step by Step Photo Recipes:

 
1.Add 1/4 Cup Toor dal in Pressure Cooker with 1/2 Cup Water and Cook for 2 Whistles.
 
2.Once the Pressure is released add Shallots,Tomato,Green Chili and Garlic.
 
3.Then add chopped Keerai ,Turmeric Powder and needed Salt and Pressure Cook for 2 Whistles.
 

4.Once the Pressure is released open the lid and boil till extra water gets evaporated.
 
 
5.Finally mash with Masher till all ingredients gets Completely mashed.
 

6.For tempering heat a sauce pan and add Oil.
 
7.Once the oil is hot add Vadagam or Mustard seeds and urad dal.
 

8.Once it Splutters add red Chilies and mix with dal Curry.
 
 
 
 

Serve with Hot Rice with a tsp of Ghee.
 

Notes:

  • For better taste you can also cook in Kadai.
  • Green Chilies can be added more or Less
