Finger Millet/Ragi Puttu Recipe with step by step photo recipes without puttu maker.Ragi Puttu which is a simple healthy breakfast recipe.Ragi is rich in calcium.It is also rich in fibre,minerals and amino acids.it is a good choice for diabetics,which helps to control blood sugar levels.Because of its fiber content,it helps to lose weight.
 
Ragi can be used to make Ragi Malt,Ragi Porridge,Ragi Roti,Ragi Idly,Dosa and puttu.Ragi Puttu is made from Ragi Flour,Coconut,Jaggery and ghee.I request you to checkout the recipe and make a try.
 

Ingredients:

 
Ragi Flour-1 cup
Brown Sugar/Granulated Sugar/Jaggery-1/4 Cup
Grated Coconut-2 tsp
Ghee-1 tsp(optional)
 

Method:

Add ghee and ragi flour in a kadai and saute for 2mins.You can also make home made ragi flour.The whole ragi is cleaned and washed and sundried.Once it is dried completely,add in a blender and blend Coarsely.If you are planning to make make other recipes by using ragi,blend into smooth powder.store in a airtight container and it lasts for about 6 months.
 
Now add water little by little and mix(crumble texture).transfer to a steamer/idly pot and steam for about Mins.Once done trasfer to bowl and add grated coconut and jaggery/palm jaggery/brown sugar.mix and serve.

 

Step by Step Photo Recipes:

 
1.In a kadai add 1 tsp Ghee and Ragi Flour and saute for 5 mins in low flame.
 

 


2.Switch off the flame and add warm water little by little and mix(texture should be crumble).

 

 

 

 

3.In a steamer or Idly pot place a muslin cloth and spread the ragi flour.

 

 

4.steam for 15 mins.
 
 

5.Then transfer the ragi flour to a mixing bowl.

 
 
6.Add Sugar.
 
  • Sugar and Coconut can be added according to your taste.
  • You can also make using puttu maker by layering Ragi flour and grated coconut.
