
Sweet Bhoondhi is one of the traditional Sweets in India.In this post i have shared the recipe of sweet bhoondhi with step by step photos.Bhoondhi can be prepared in two version.One is Kara Bhoondhi(Savoury)and Sweet Bhoondhi.This is one of the most famous sweet in tamilnadu and is served as one of the main sweets in marriages in earlier times and as a prasadham in temple.

Batter Consistency
Bhoondhi is prepared by using a gram flour.Using home made gram flour makes the bhoondhi more tasty.gram flour is mixed with water by adding a pinch of baking soda/cooking soda.consistency should not be thick.Pore the batter in a perforated laddle to check consistency.while pouring the batter if it flows easily then that is the perfect consistency.
Sugar Syrup Consistency
Add sugar with water in a kadai.heat till it reaches one string consistency.
Ingredients
Besan/Gram Flour/Kadalai Maavu-1 cup
Baking Soda/Cooking Soda-1 Pinch
water-3/4 Cup(adjust Consistency)
For Sugar Syrup
Sugar-3/4 Cup
Water-1/4 cup
Cardamom-1 tsp crushed
Dry grapes-1 tbsp
Cashews-1 tbsp
Ghee-2 tbsp
Cloves-2
Food Colour(optional)
Step by Step Photo Recipes
1.Add gram flour/besan in a bowl.

2.Add a Pinch of Baking soda.

3.Mix Once.

4.Add water and mix(i used 3/4 cup water).

5.Check the consistency by adding batter in a perforated laddle.

5.Heat a kadai and add oil.

6.Once the oil is hot,use perforated laddle and pour the batter.

7.Make sure the oil is hot,so that the shape of the bhoondhi looks perfect.

8.donot touch for a min.

9.Cook in medium flame.
10.Once ready remove it from the oil.


11.Keep aside.
12.Add sugar in a kadai.

13.Now add water and switch on the stove.

14.Heat till it reaches to one string consistency.


15.Add food colour at this stage.(optional)
16.Now add the bhoondhi balls in sugar syrup.

17.Add cardamom and cloves.

18.Mix in a low flame.

19.Once the sugar syrup syrup gets absorbed 90 percent,switch off.
20.Add ghee in a sauce pan.

21.Add Cashews and dry grapes.

22.Roast till it turns golden brown.
23.Add it to the bhoondhi and mix.

Cover and rest for 15 mins and serve.
