Tomato Biryani Recipe/How to Make Tomato Rice

Tomato Biryani/Tomato Rice Recipe with step by step photos.This is a one pot recipe,which is very famous rice varities in India.Tomato rice is made with Tomatoes,Onion,Some whole garam masalas and other spices.This is one of the easiest recipe and a lunch box recipe too.The left over rice can be easily converted into Tomato rice.Checkout the recipe and make it a try.
Tomato Biryani Recipe is made by sauteing whole garam masalas in ghee,followed by ginger garlic paste.Once the paste is turned into golden brown add onions and saute till it becomes soft.Then add chopped Tomatoes,redchilies and saute till it becomes soft and mushy.Further add coriander leaves and mint leaves and saute.Finally add water and soaked rice(soaked for about half an hr) and pressure cook for 1 whistle.Once done add ghee and mix.
The other way to make tomato rice is more easy when compared with another way.I usually make tomato rice in this way,if i have left over rice.In a kadai add Oil,mustard seeds,urad dal and chana dal.once splutters add onions,tomatoes,green chilies,curry leaves and coriander leaves and saute till it becomes soft and mushy.Finally add left over rice and mix.

    Ingredients:


    Basmati Rice-1 Cup
    Water-2 Cups
    Onion-1 Medium sized thinely Sliced
    Tomato-5 Medium Sized Finely Chopped
    Green Chili-1 Slited
    Chili Powder-1 tsp
    Turmeric Powder-1 Pinch
    Coriander Leaves-2 tsp
    Mint Leaves-2 tsp
    Cinnamon Stick-1 Medium Sized
    Cloves-2
    Cardamom Pods-1
    Bay Leaf-1
    Star Anise-1
    Ginger Garlic Paste-1/2 tsp
    Oil-2 tsp
    Ghee-2 tsp

    Pre Preparation:

    Wash and soak Basmati Rice For 20 mins and strain and keep aside.


    Step by Step Photo Recipes:


    1.Heat a Pressure Cooker and add Oil and Ghee.


    2.Once it becomes hot add all Biryani Masala(Cinnamon Stick,Bay Leaf,Star Anise,Cloves and Cardamom Pods) and saute till aroma comes.


    3.Now add Ginger Garlic Paste and Cook till it becomes golden brown in Simmer.


    4.Add Onions and Green Chilies and Cook till it becomes Soft.



    5.Once the Onion becomes soft add Coriander Leaves and Mint Leaves and Saute for 1 Min.

    6.Further add Tomatoes.


    7.Now add in Chili Powder,Turmeric Powder and needed Salt and Cook in simmer till tomatoes becomes Soft and Mushy.





    8.Once it becomes Soft add 2 Cups water and Boil.


    9.Now add Soaked Basmati Rice and Pressure Cook for 1 Whistle(before Closing Check for Salt and Spice).




    10.Once the Pressure is Released open the lid and mix gently and Serve hot with Raita.
